Unhappy with ChatGPT’s response or accidentally pressed send?
In a nutshell: Simply press the "Stop generating" button in the bottom-right corner, and ChatGPT will cease its activity.
Discover how to halt the AI’s response process after initiating a prompt on both desktop and mobile.
On a Desktop

- Initiate a question to ChatGPT
- Upon ChatGPT beginning its response, select squared button in the bottom right corner
- This action halts ChatGPT’s response generation.
Keep in mind that the answer still counts towards your 3-hour usage limit.
That said, ChatGPT will remember continue to remember all previous conversations that have taken place.
Personally, I would only recommend stopping an answer midway if you know that it’s a) going to be wrong and b) take substantial time until finishing (e.g., when dealing with uploaded files).
Using a Mobile Device

The process on mobile is very similar to desktop.
Once ChatGPT starts generating the answer, simply click on the stop icon highlighted above.
Wrapping Up
Stopping ChatGPT’s responses is effortlessly done with a simple click on both desktop and mobile.
